Activities, objectives and functions
The principal activity of the Company involves management, use and disposal of the railway infrastructure by the right of trust and the execution of the functions of the public railway infrastructure manager.
The functions of the public railway infrastructure manager are defined in the Railway Transport Code of the Republic of Lithuania and other legal acts on rail transport operations.
LTG Infra's objectives are set out in LTG Infra's Articles of Association (link of the document):
- To achieve efficiency in the Company's operations by increasing the attractiveness of services related to the use of public railway infrastructure to customers
- Ensuring the efficient management, use and disposal, maintenance, renewal and development of public railway infrastructure
- To achieve socially responsible, sustainable growth in the value of the Company's business and long-term shareholder benefits

International Relations
Goals and objectives of AB LTG Infra in international organisations:
- To actively participate in working groups of international organisations to find the best solutions and useful information on topics of interest to LTG Infra;
- To exchange best practices with other infrastructure managers;
- To ensure access to common information systems developed by infrastructure managers to improve operational efficiency;
- To contribute to the development of common rules and standards for all infrastructure managers that contribute to a competitive, sustainable and safe railway network.
AB "LTG Infra" is actively involved in RNE, RFC "North Sea-Baltic" and PRIME activities. The activities of these international organisations are exclusively related to railway infrastructure.
RailNetEurope (RNE)
Aims to simplify and facilitate international traffic on European railways

RNE is a non-profit association of railway infrastructure managers and capacity allocators working to simplify and facilitate international traffic on European railways. The Association was founded in 2004 by 16 members.
The objectives of the association are to support railway undertakings in their international (freight and passenger) operations and to improve the efficiency of infrastructure managers' processes. RNE members harmonise the conditions for international rail transport in order to develop international rail transport.
In its day-to-day work RNE aims to simplify, streamline and harmonise the processes of European scheduling, common marketing, sales strategy and cooperation between infrastructure managers.
RNE has 4 permanent working groups: sales and train schedules, traffic management law and network regulations. Additional project teams are organised for specific tasks. All these activities are coordinated by the RNE joint office in Vienna, Austria. Organisational structure: representatives of each Member meet in a General Assembly where decisions are taken. It also elects the RNE's Board of Directors (President and 3-9 Vice-Presidents). The RNE Board is responsible for the day-to-day running of the association and the implementation of projects approved by the General Assembly.

Rail Freight Corridor North Sea-Baltic

As part of the implementation of Regulation (EU) No 913/2010 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 22 September 2010 concerning a European rail network for competitive freight, Lithuanian Railways is participating in the project "Establishment of the "North Sea-Baltic" Rail Freight Corridor and its Further Development to Improve the Conditions for International Rail Freight Transport", No 2014-EU-TM-0217-S, together with the Infrastructure Managers of Poland, Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany and Czech Republic. From 2020 infrastructure managers in Latvia and Estonia are due to join the Corridor.
Regular meetings of the Coordination working group on the Establishment of the North Sea-Baltic Freight Corridor, the Administrative Board, the Executive board and other Corridor working groups are held every year. Representatives of Transport Ministries of the member countries also attend the meetings of the Corridor Executive Board.
Twice a year, meetings are held with Advisory groups of freight terminals and railway undertakings/carriers.
Rail Freight Corridor "North Sea-Baltic" covers the main European transit centres such as Antwerp (Belgium), Rotterdam (Netherlands), Bremerhaven, Aachen, Hamm, Hannover, Hanover, Berlin (Germany), Poznan and Warsaw (Poland) as well as Kaunas (Lithuania).

Platform of Rail Infrastructure Managers in Europe (PRIME)
Aims to develop cooperation and exchange of information between European rail infrastructure managers and the European Commission

PRIME is a registered permanent informal group of experts of the European Commission, whose aim is to develop cooperation and exchange of information between European rail infrastructure managers and the Commission, thus promoting safe, sustainable, well-functioning and value-creating European rail transport. PRIME also allows participants to enter into early discussions on legislative initiatives directly with the European Commission, which consults PRIME members when preparing decisions or prior to taking action on the initiation, development and implementation of European Union rail legislation.
PRIME's members include the European Commission's Directorate-General for Mobility and Transport (DG MOVE), European rail infrastructure managers and their representative associations. In addition to DG MOVE, PRIME already has 34 railway infrastructure managers and 4 associations representing their interests, i.e. CER (Community of European Railway and Infrastructure Companies), EIM (Association of European Rail Infrastructure Managers), RNE (RailNetEurope), VDV (Association of German Transport Companies).
