LTG Infra Takes Over Design Contract with Deutsche Bahn Engineering & Consulting

LTG Group’s infrastructure company, LTG Infra, has signed a design contract for the Rail Baltica project with the German company Deutsche Bahn Engineering & Consulting and the joint Baltic states venture RB Rail AS. Following the new Rail Baltica project governance model approved last year, LTG Infra has assumed full responsibility for implementing this contract.

According to Justas Vyžintas, LTG Infra Head for Rail Baltica Management, the change in the governance model is a long-awaited positive development that will help accelerate project execution in Lithuania. This agreement was reached by all countries involved in the project, in cooperation with the European Commission.

“RB Rail AS continues to perform important coordinating, supervisory, design compliance, and financial functions. The joint venture remains a key partner and plays a significant role in the project. At the same time, LTG Infra is fully equipped with the necessary resources to manage and oversee contract execution within Lithuania, and is taking a more active role in delivering tasks locally,” says Vyžintas.

The contract with Deutsche Bahn Engineering & Consulting was signed as a trilateral agreement, since RB Rail AS conducted the public tender. Going forward, LTG Infra will handle all procurement and enter into contracts for design, construction, and other Rail Baltica project works in Lithuania.

Deutsche Bahn Engineering & Consulting, part of the Deutsche Bahn group, will design nearly 100 kilometers of electrified double-track high-speed railway from the Lithuania–Poland border to Kaunas (Jiesia). The contract value is €38.3 million (excluding VAT).

Rail Baltica is a strategic project for both the LTG Group and the European Union and is the largest railway infrastructure project in the history of the Baltic States. Once completed, it will deliver an electrified European standard gauge railway line connecting Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia with Central and Western Europe, strengthening regional integration, civil and military mobility, and the overall resilience of the transport system.
